When Should I Order My Bridesmaid Dress?
When should I order my bridesmaid dress? The short answer is that you need to order your bridesmaid dress about 6 months before the wedding. Just do it, save yourself a huge headache of being that girl.
Most custom made bridesmaid dresses will take anywhere from 6-12 weeks. Order in advance and allow time for the dress to be made and shipping time. 6-12 weeks can really mean 8-14 weeks especially if you’re ordering internationally. You’re going to want to have time for fine tuning alterations once you get it and try it on.

If you’re ordering online, don’t wait until the last minute. Order in plenty of time so you can deal with unforeseen issues. You just never know if you will receive the incorrect size, color or if there’s a shipping delay.
After you order your dress, it’s time to order your shoes and bra (if you’re wearing one). Bring them to your fitting. You want to have exactly what you’ll be wearing the day of so your alterations are accurate. Your dress is probably getting hemmed so you need the shoes you’re wearing so the length is right. You don’t want to get tripped up in a dress that’s too long and you definitely don’t want it to be too short.
Allow plenty of time for any alterations you may need for your made-to-order or ready-to-ship dress. It’s very likely you’re going to need some sort of alteration so be proactive and make an appointment at the tailor in advance. Alterations can take a few weeks depending on what you need done.
